Google Map
This map is of the places that I stopped on my cross country journey to starting college in 2005. I moved to La Mirada, CA to attend BIOLA University. This is another great way to log your travels!

I think that this site is great! I am not a professional photographer but I have taken some okay pictures. I think that this site could be great exposure for peoples pictures. It is nice that you can also have a setting for pictures. Making them public or private and also being able to use them. Geotagging was a great experience. I have been wanting to find a way to mark all of my travels that I have done and will be doing! This would be a great way to keep track of it all.

Resume
I am a Web 2.0 guru that wants to work for you. I have lots of social media experience, coding experience, and audio/video skills. I also have some web page developing experience. I am great at collaborating and have lots of ideas to share. I work great in both a team and individual setting. I am not only up to date on the mainstream tools but am familiar with other sites. I am hardworking and ready to take on the job.
Review Objectives
My original objectives:
1. Understand all the inter workings of what Web 2.0 is about. I would like to learn how to really use the web to interact through and not just as an information source.
2. Effectively use technology to reach my 21st century learners. Technology is such a huge part of children's lives and I want to be able to use it to effectively reach them in the classroom. I hope that this web 2.0 class can give me some great ideas to use in my classroom.
3. Get more experience with using social media sites regularly. I am very comfortable with sites like Facebook and Youtube. Through this course, I hope to become more experienced in using other forms of social media like blogging. I also hope to learn more about what other sites are out there besides the mainstream ones.
4. Experience and understand the positives and negatives to using web 2.0 and social media sites to communicate. I have an idea of some of these already. However, I feel that physically using these things will show something's that I might not have known otherwise.
I feel like my original goals were appropriate to what Web 2.0 is. I have a much larger understanding of what 2.0 actually is. Before taking this class I could probably guess but I didn't really know what web 2.0. I find myself a lot asking my self if what I am doing could be web 2.0. I am more in tune to what it is. I most definitely have learned more about how to reach my 21st century learners. Sites, accounts, and tips that I have learned from this class I will take with me. I have also most certainly become more acquainted with social media sites, more then I even knew what out there. I could work on figuring out the positives and negatives to some of the sites we have used. Overall, I have been pleased with my experience so far!

CoachSurfing.com
This site was very interesting. At first I did not understand exactly what was meant by couch surfing. I mean I know what couch surfing is but I didn't quite get it. After looking through some profiles and doing some reading I got it. The idea seems pretty cool. Advertising for others to use your couch is most definitely beyond web 2.0. The difference between this site and those like Twitter & Facebook is that this could potentially require a face to face meeting. This site seems really cool for people who are traveling especially students or those who want to see the world. I like the fact that you have to give specifics in order to add "friends". It seems that this site takes friends more seriously because you may just have them sleeping on your couch. Very interesting site!

No License
I think that if I came up with or had a great song, video or photo it would depend on how much I valued it as to how far I would go. I would like to think that a photo or video I created I would be open to share. I wouldn't want money for anyone who used it but I would like the credit. So, I would share and others could as well as long as my name was credited in some fashion. As I think about this I think of all the things I have put on the internet for "free". All the youtube videos I have made, and anything that is on facebook can be easily taken but that doesn't bother me. However, if it was my career then maybe I would think of this differently. I also would have had that notion before I put them up for the whole world to see. Besides the fact that it is illegal it bothers me that others take credit for things that are not their own. At the very least I think we should give credit where credit it due. It is a respectable thing to do and shouldn't be taken so lightly.
On my journey to find my no licensed thing I came upon this website: The Best Copyright Free Photo Library. This site has some AMAZING pictures all being taken by a US government employee. I also didn't know that these photos are free of a copyright. I am not sure why the government has allowed so many photos to be shared by anyone. They give credit to each individual photographer even though it was apart of their job and I guess they believe it is enough. It is a great resource especially to be used in a history class. There are so many different categories/departments to look through.
This picture is of a volcano erupting in Hawaii and was taken in 1969.

I reviewed wikisource which is a free library. It has thousands of texts in full copies for the use of anyone. I think that the idea of this is great especially for people like myself taking online classes. Since this is in it's beginnings there are a limited amount of text. There are many things that I have found so far that are very interesting. They have all kinds of journals, memoirs, notes, articles, books, even suicide notes and that is only the beginning. I think that this can become an excellent resource especially since this is not limited to one country (all kinds of cultures and people can contribute). It reminds me a lot of google text. The biggest difference is that some google text's are restricted until one pays and this source is free! I also got a pretty great laugh from the featured text "Shaving Made Easy".
I also reviewed wikiquote which is a page of quotes. There are so many different subcategories like: movies, people, tv shows, themes (education, history etc.), & categories. It seems to be a great source if you have an idea of a type of quote you are looking for. I think this is a great idea to have as a source. I know I am often looking for quotes to start my class off with, or to encourage my softball team and this would be a great use for that. As far as editing these myself I am not too sure. Often times just one word changes the whole thing and when people are quoted it should be exact. So, it may get a little interesting if anyone can edit them. Great idea though! They also have featured quotes and this is one from a while ago but still a good one "Life is too deep for words, so don't try to describe it, just live it." ~ C.S. Lewis

Photobucket, Youtube, & SoundCloud
Photobucket: I already had an account with this site but had not visited it in a while. It has changed a lot since I have used it. I normally use this site to share pictures with friends after we have went on some kind of trip. After playing around with it you can do quite a bit. You can edit, store, share, & print photos. I played around and made a collage from my recent trip to New Orleans.
Youtube: I again already had an account here as well. I really LOVE youtube. Not so much uploading my stuff (even though I am growing more accustomed to it!) but watching what people post. I think the creators of youtube are absolutely genius. The more I become involved in posting my own videos the more I realize what people go through when making their videos. I played around with this site by uploading my own videos (http://youtu.be/7B8BI8cAbcQ), and searching through other videos.
SoundCloud: This site was great! I am not a musician or will never record a track of my own but this site is so awesome to look through. I uploaded a track that my roommates recorded. It was a remake of the song "Dancing in the Moonlight". We had our own "band" called JAM (Jennifer, Angeline, Melissa) although we never actually sang it was still really fun! They made me a cd of our favorite songs when I moved back home and I thought I would share. I also created a profile and looked at other people's sounds. This is almost like a twitter but for music...one that I find more appealing than twitter!

Spring Break
I CANNOT believe that it is already spring break. I mean..I am VERY excited to have some time off because it is much deserved :) As I reflect on my year I have accomplished quite a bit. I am officially through my 1st full year of teaching. I have learned so much from everyone and cannot wait to continue my career at a school that I LOVE. I am also half way through my 2nd semester of grad school! I have learned so much and am glad that I get to work with so many great people. I know that once school starts back on April 16th that things are going to get crazy. So, I will enjoy probably my last week of rest.
